The missile is capable of carrying 500/100 kg of warheads and is powered by liquid propulsion twin engines.
The missile was launched from a mobile autonomous launcher at 11.45 am and it successfully flew in its pre-set trajectory 'fulfilling its mission objectives', the ministry said.

It was the naval version of Prithvi, which has a range of 250 to 300 km.
